Jerico Mission Project

A couple thousand years ago, a Man from Galilee was walking from Jericho to Jerusalem. His name was Jesus. As He walked, He heard two blind men on the side of the road calling to Him. He stopped and asked them what He could do for them. “Restore our vision,” they replied. He had compassion on them and healed them. Immediately, they received their sight and followed Him.

Fifteen years ago, my husband, Wayne Eimers, and I (Katy Grisamore) started the Jericho Ministry Vision Clinic, after this miraculous incident found in Matt. 20:29-34 inspired and touched our hearts. We followed a call from the Lord to test and distribute free eyeglasses in Jamaica, where eye care and eyeglasses are very difficult to access.

In partnership with the Wesley Methodist Church congregation in Brown’s Town, the annual Clinic attracts people from all over the island. The five-day clinic is able to welcome about 300 people per day. Eyes are tested, prescription glasses are fitted, reading glasses are sized, and sunglasses are distributed. Approximately 4,000 glasses are given out free of charge every year. Four of us from this congregation, Kay Jettmann, Sue Sumner, and my husband and I, have joined hands and hearts with our Jamaican brothers and sisters to work as the hands and feet of Jesus in Brown’s Town.

Over the years, we’ve distributed approx. 56,000 glasses to needy people in Jamaica. And this year, after having to postpone the Jamaican clinics due to the Covid 19 pandemic, God opened a new door for us in Puerto Rico, where we will hold a Clinic in February, 2023. This Clinic will be held in San Juan, where there is a displaced population of Dominican refugees.

As we continue to be guided and directed by the Lord, we continue to ask for your support and prayers. That Man from Galilee continues to work miracles, by Himself and through us. I love that Man from Galilee, and I thank Him for the blessing of the Jericho Ministry Vision Clinic.
